Alexandra Ellen is a Brisbane/Meanjin based visual artist, photographer and theatre maker. She takes a multidisciplinary approach to her artistic practice which crosses form. Alex believes that as artists we are storytellers, and is very passionate about disabled stories being told by authentic voices. This underpins all her art and advocacy work
Alexandra Ellen is the Artistic Associate at indelabilityarts and has been a member of the professional ensemble since 2017. She is part of the creative team and cast of award winning show, Wilbur The Optical Whale. Alexandra was part of La Boite’s 2020 ASSEMBLY cohort and was the 2020 Access Arts Achievement Award recipient.
Alex is also a visual artist and member of Access Arts visual arts program, BOA and their Earn From Your Art program. Her visual arts practice can be described as expressive and intuitive, leaning towards mixed media and experimenting with materials and techniques. Over the last six years, she has contributed to many collaborative exhibitions including Access Arts, Art from the Margins and Recovered Futures. She curated her first solo exhibition Outside Inside in 2019.
The highlight of Alex’s career has been the creation of her show, Betsy and I and has had a lot of support from the Brisbane arts community. It premiered at the Undercover Artist Festival on the 21st September, 2023.
