Madeleine Border

Madeleine Border is a Meanjin, Brisbane theatre maker, performer and writer. A voice that mixes political satire and quirky dialogue, she writes to provoke, intrigue and amuse. Her work Sometimes It’s Hot like the Sun, which she co-wrote, was published by Playlab Indie in 2020. Her theatre collective, Yours Sincerely, completed a residency at Backbone Youth Arts in 2019, and presented their work This Fantastic Plastic Planet alongside a 20m whale skeleton made out of found and recycled plastics. A Young Playwright-in-Residence for Playlab Theatre in 2019, she was a participant of their Incubator program in 2020, a participant in Express Media’s Left to Write program in 2020, and a writer for Playlab Theatre’s commissioned work, Rising, presented at Metro Arts in 2021. She premiered her new work, Maddie is the New Karen at the Wynnum Fringe Festival in November 2021. Madeleine completed a Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in Political Science and Drama) before completing a Masters of Writing, Editing and Publishing at the University of Queensland in 2019.
