Xavier Hazard
Xavier is a queer screenwriter, playwright and lawyer with a passion for creating stories that hit you in the gut and the heart and the humerus, all at once. His writing for screen and stage explores the truth in hidden worlds, and often draws on the strange lines between queerness, masculinity, and institutions of power.
After an eventful stint working as a judge’s associate in the Supreme Court of WA, Xavier promptly fled his career in the law to complete a Masters of Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and a Masters of Dramatic Writing at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). Since graduating from NIDA in 2024, Xavier has worked as script co-ordinator for Optics (2025) and The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer (2025), and as a notetaker across multiple projects for Warner Bros., Easy Tiger, Goalpost Pictures, Roadshow Rough Diamond, and Brouhaha.
