Description

Developed for Sport for Jove, As Hamlet Likes It  by George Kemp is a playful, magical mashup, combining the texts of Hamlet and As You Like It into a fabulous romp for a new generation!

SYNOPSIS

Murder and revenge,  love and… goats? Hamlet is annoyed. He has enlisted a Company of Players to secretly rehearse his revenge play and they are late. They are to perform The Murder of Gonzago to catch out his uncle in his murderous lie. One small problem — The Players don’t know it. They gingerly offer up an alternative, something they’ve been tinkering with –  a brand new gender-bending comedy they’ve cooked up on the road. Hamlet is in no mood for comedy. Will he get these rag-tag actors ready to perform in time?

PRODUCTION HISTORY

As Hamlet Likes It was first performed on 28-29th December 2019 as part of  Sport for Jove Theatre’s Second Age Project in their Summer Season, 2019.
