Rockpocalypse dances between the present and the future, asking questions about home, belonging, the world around us and the worlds within us.

Jessica Lamb‘s Rockpocalypse asks questions of place, belonging and sustainability through the lens of a dystopian Rockhampton in the midst of exodus.

Rockpocalypse dances between the present and the future, asking questions about home, belonging, the world around us and the worlds within us. An unlikely team of locals from the present day are drawn into a role-playing game of a dystopian future Rockhampton – but where has everyone gone, and why? Will the rumbling secret deep within Rocky’s heart be revealed – or will the last one out turn the lights off?

Rockpocalypse was first produced by Arts Central Queensland Inc. premiering at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre, Rockhampton on November 22 – 24, 2019.

Education Notes

The education notes in Rockpocalypse are designed to support educators in their design and delivery of learning experiences using the playtext. Rockpocalypse was developed with members of the Rockhampton community as a part of a research project with the University of New England. This research explored how tabletop roleplaying games could be used to engage theatre-averse and disengaged community members in shared storytelling about place. The stories created by community players serve as the basis of the Rockpocalypse playtext.
