Description

Bloke by Margaret Hickey is a play that celebrates the Australian man: the awkward, the noble, the funny and the strange. Written as five monologues, Bloke, delves into the local characters we all recognise and love; a schoolboy, a brother, an Auskick coach, a bird lover and a man who dreams of bringing the whole street together. This ode to the Australian bloke is honest and breathtakingly good.
Production History
Bloke was first produced by Wangaratta Arts Council in collaboration with North East Victoria Arts Alliance at the 2014 Milawa Monologues, the production premiered at The Old Chaff House on October 23, 2014.

Reviews
"Far from stoic and rugged men of the bush, Hickey’s blokes are flawed, foolish and vulnerable. It is these frailties that resonate."
— Rebecca Dargie, The Guardian
"It’s about human stories, some are funny, some are sad. They are microcosms of people I see in so many small towns,"
