Description

Based on the lived experience of co-playwright Saengthien, I Is Maggie by Dennis McIntosh and Saengthien Klamkaew, is a humorous, tender, and powerful play. An expression of the struggles felt by migrants in the workplace, I Is Maggie highlights the vulnerability of workers where English is not their first language.

SYNOPSIS

Thai immigrant, Maggie works in an industrial laundry servicing the luxury hotels of a tourist paradise. The workplace, however, is anything but paradise. Maggie’s working conditions are rife with dangers, discrimination, and illegal practices. Her determination to make a difference means that she will not be silenced; she will be heard.
