Description
Spanning three decades, in flights of fantasy, poetic phrasing and sombre soliloquy, Elaine Acworth‘s Composing Venus tells the story of three generations of women living in outback North Queensland.
SYNOPSIS
Charters Towers, a faded gold mining town in North Queensland and home to the ore-crushing Venus Battery can, at the best of times, feel completely isolated from the rest of the world. But one night in 1957, the rest of the world came a little closer to Charters Towers when Sputnik crossed the skies over the Clare family’s home bringing with it events that will change the lives of three women in Charters Towers forever.
PRODUCTION HISTORY
Composing Venus was first produced by the Queensland Theatre Company at Suncorp Theatre, Brisbane on 17 February 1994.
