SYNOPSIS

The Monkey Mother by Binh Duy Ta —A lyrical drama by Binh Duy Ta celebrating the potential in an inter-cultural marriage between two young people told in a unique blend of myth, music, poetry, and martial arts based movement.

The Butterfly Seer by Indija N. Mahjoeddin— Written in the Sumatran Randai form, The Butterfly Seer depicts the tribulation that beset Ayesha, a visionary who challenges her village neighbours to join her on a pilgrimage to Mecca, and the tensions that arise for her devoted follower, Osman the Clown.

Chinese Takeaway by Anna Yen —Anna Yen‘s Chinese Take Away is an adaptation of an acclaimed physical theatre show. It uniquely blends poetic storytelling, drama, and archival footage, to bring a true story to the screen. Three generations of women; Grandmother, Mother, and Anna, make a figurative ‘journey’ from the mores of Old China to those of contemporary Australia. A tragi-comic, one-woman show, richly realised through voice and circus.
